What is therapy all about?

  • It starts with a phone call.

Before getting started with treatment, it is important for us to connect over the phone for a brief consult to discuss concerns and determine the best course of action. Of course, this comes at no cost.

  • We'll set up a time to meet.

The first session will be scheduled during our phone consult, and this is usually referred to as an initial evaluation. It is approximately one hour in length, and is billed through your insurance unless other arrangements were made. This session is centered on gathering information that will be used to construct a treatment plan.

  • Then, we'll develop a plan.

After the evaluation is completed, you and I will work together to develop a treatment plan that is centered on evidence-based practice. We’ll carry out this plan over a prescribed period of time.

It is supposed to help you.

I like to structure treatment to ensure that it is effective. The process starts with a phone call to determine whether outpatient psychotherapy is the right option for you. If so, I will schedule a comprehensive evaluation, which will inform your treatment plan.

The most important part is that it works

I use outcome measures and check-in with you regularly around the effectiveness of treatment. If it isn’t working, we’ll try other options.

If you’ve tried therapy before…

Your past experiences with therapy may be positive or negative. Keep in mind that the type of therapy and the personal connection between the clinician and patient are directly related to outcomes in treatment. If you are curious about the process of therapy, don’t hesitate to contact me to talk things through.
